Untangling my thoughts
Sifting and sorting.
I unravel many layers.
The past from the present,
Triumphs from losses.
What’s mine? What’s not?
Sitting back,
I let the light wash over me.
Searching undeterred.
Determined to discover
my own true self.
Have you ever gone down a path only to discover you were following someone else’s ideas, wishes and desires for you?
For many years I worked in the advertising industry. Doesn’t sound like a bad fit, does it? Unless I tell you that I worked in media planning, inundated by numbers, graphs, charts and projections. Oh, and all deadlines were due “yesterday”.
True, the industry itself brought unpredictability and excitement into my life. What I didn’t know early in my career was that I came alive in the fields of dance, artistic expression, and the healing arts.
To discover where I was best suited, I had to become aware of and sort out what I’d been taught, what I believed, and what fascinated and compelled me. I had to be willing to explore, and in my case, create a niche that allowed me to fulfill these individual gifts.
I hope this piece “Untangling Myself” with its soft lemon yellows and solid yet moving sweeps of violet and deep rose, reminds you to keep exploring and finding more about yourself. And with each new chapter, I wish for you to continue to find avenues that fulfill you and light you up.
